Sufism Documentary Filming at Lama Foundation

In September, filming for the documentary, Living from the Heart: Universalist Sufism in America, continued at Lama Foundation, the location of the newly constructed dargah of Murshid Samuel Lewis.

On Thursday evening, Pir Netanel Miles-Yépez was filmed leading zikr for the Lama residents in the dome.

On the final morning of the trip, the crew filmed Pir Netanel and Lama Coordinator, Lucas Kestrel Sego, walking up to the newly constructed dargah of Murshid Samuel Lewis, where they said prayers together.

Sufism Documentary Filming in Boulder, Colorado

In January, filming for a documentary on universalist Sufism in America continued in Boulder, Colorado. Scenes were filmed with Pir Netanel Miles-Yépez of the Inayati-Maimuni Order (which is based in Boulder) leading zikr during a Sufi retreat at Naropa University, and at the famous Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse.

Sufism Documentary Filming at Abode

In November, documentary filmmaker, Chuck Davis, came to the Sufi Ruhaniat International's Jamiat Khas at the Abode of the Message in New Lebanon, New York, to film interviews and scenes for a documentary on universalist Sufism in America.

At the Abode, Davis filmed a dialogue on Sufism and Ecology with Pir Zia Inayat-Khan and Pir Netanel Miles-Yépez, as well as interviews with Deepa Gulrukh Patel (European Coordinator of the Inayati Order), Jennifer Alia Wittman (Executive Director of the Inayati Order), Netanel Miles-Yépez (Pir of the Inayati-Maimuni Order), Shabda Kahn (Pir of the Sufi Ruhaniat Order), and Zia Inayat-Khan (Pir of the Inayati Order).

Sufism Documentary Filming at Season of the Rose

In July, documentary filmmaker, Chuck Davis, came to the Season of the Rose, the Inayati Order's Sufi summer school, in Portland, Oregon, to film the first scenes of a new documentary on universalist Sufism in America.

A major focus of filming was an evening of traditional Qawwali with Sukhawat Ali Khan, at which Mevlevi semazen, Aziz Isaiah Abbatiello, turned. Davis also filmed sessions with Sufi teachers, Taj Inayat and Pir Zia Inayat-Khan.
